Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Position Overview: The Project Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of multiple projects and managing project teams, with a focus on ensuring safety, quality, and profitability. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Safety Compliance:
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure adherence to the company’s safety program.
- Review monthly safety reports with the onsite team and General Superintendent.
- Support the Project Manager in enforcing safety policies among field staff and subcontractors.
II. Progress Monitoring:
- Ensure project schedules are up to date and that contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Address scheduling conflicts with the General Superintendent.
- Provide timely scheduling executive summaries to the Vice President of Operations.
III. Financial Oversight:
- Monitor project finances to ensure profitability is on track.
- Oversee accurate and timely billing, forecasting, and financial reporting.
IV. Strategic Decision-Making:
- Provide leadership and guidance to Project Managers for implementing strategic decisions effectively.
V. Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Report project progress to the Vice President of Operations.
- Participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings as necessary.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
VI. Cost Management:
- Develop cost-effective strategies for successful project completion.
- Work with Project Managers to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee project closeout and ensure timely financial closure.
VII. Risk Management:
- Ensure that any changes submitted to the client meet required standards.
- Collaborate with the General Superintendent to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
VIII. Trade Partner Continuity:
- Assist in resolving any issues with trade partners to maintain workflow continuity.
- Oversee cost and billing controls for assigned projects.
IX. Team Management:
- Lead Project Managers in managing their teams effectively.
- Make recommendations for corrective actions, hiring, or terminations to the Vice President of Operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in project management, ideally in construction or a related field.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and financial management tools.
